ONE-EYED cop killer Dale Cregan spends his days cowering alone in his cell as fellow lags vie to pocket the £20,000 bounty on his remaining eye.

A crime boss offered the reward when the monster was jailed for life in 2013 - but he dodged it by getting moved to a cushy psychiatric hospital.

But he was moved back to Manchester Prison from Merseyside's high-security Ashworth Hospital, where he bragged of playing snooker, tennis and cooking pizza.

Drug lord Cregan, who gunned down cops Fiona Bone, 32, and Nicola Hughes, 23, forced a move to the unit after going on a hunger strike and convincing doctors he was criminally insane.

In 2016 a mystery mob boss — behind bars himself — was revealed to have offered £20,000 to anyone who robs the brute of his remaining sight.

A prison source told the Daily Star: "He is a marked man and he knows it.

"Many see leaving him disfigured as some sort of trophy. He is terrified of being blinded.

Cregan, 34, murdered two gang rivals in Manchester in 2012 before the fatal gun and grenade ambush on the two police officers.

He was given a "whole life" tariff after a £5million trial.

He is only the 49th prisoner in England and Wales to be handed a "whole life"
term.

Keeping him behind bars will cost taxpayers £3.25million if he survives until
the age of 80.

Experts estimate the annual bill for a category A prisoner like him is around
£65,000 a year.
